Picking Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy as exclusive retail partners, LG has announced that the LG Optimus 3D will start hitting retail stores in the U.K. on July 7. Preorders may be made starting today through Carphone Warehouse. You can get the smartphone for free with a 2-year locked-in contract with Vodafone with a monthly recurring fee of GBP35.00.

The LG Optimus 3D features a glasses-free 3D display (4.3 inches WVGA touchscreen), which means everything you view on the smartphone looks realistic and three-dimensional–and you don’t even have to wear special eyewear. You can also snap photos and record videos–in either 2D or 3D–using the smartphone’s dual-lens camera (5-megapixel resolution).

A 3D on/off key allows you to choose whether you want to play your movies in 3D (720P) or in 2D (1080p).

The handset also includes an HDMI port for connecting the device to HD devices such as TVs and monitors. For connectivity, the LG Optimus 3D supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G connections.

This smartphone is able to provide entertaining 3D rendering because of the underlying 1-GHz dual-core processor coupled with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Graham Stapleton, CCO for Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy, praised the LG Optimus 3D’s “ground-breaking” and “remarkable piece” of technology and expressed his pride for being able to exclusively offer the “world’s first 3D smartphone.”

Have you preordered for some 3D love today?
