LG’s upcoming flagship device will be made official tomorrow during a special media event that will take place in New York City, but we already have a press render of the handset for you.

As with the blue HTC One version we’ve just shown you, the LG G2 image comes courtesy of @evleaks, whom we more than trust with such leaks.

While we’ve seen a variety of LG G2 image leaks so farincluding a few provided by the same source – and we’re hardly expecting any surprises from the handset, this appears to be the first high-quality press image of the handset that makes its way online.

The device in the image below looks very much like what we’ve seen in previous reports. We’re looking at a rather big edge-to-edge display, and there are no buttons on the front side of the smartphone. Instead, we have two volume rockers and what’s said to be a power button on the back of the handset, underneath the camera.

The phone also has a very thin profile, and on the display there’s a clear hint at tomorrow’s event – the hour and date coincide with the announcement of the handset.

Word on the street is that the handset could be launched on August 8, right after it becomes official, but we’ll be able to tell you more details about the G2 in less than a day from now.

[Update:] @evleaks has posted a second press image, available above.

It’s clearly a power button NOT a fingerprint reader!

      • poop

I thought they already made a whole article about how it’s not a fingerprint reader. Why are they going back and saying it is again?

        • djb

looks like they changed the story without marking it up. Instead it’s like it never happened!

The design is awesome, but I’d still prefer the basic shape of LGO G. Why LG??? Why are you starting rounded your phone??!!

Looks great, I like that LG drops the physical buttons, but not the branding

    • jason

looks good. getting this one for sure

    • asdfgafrsgag

I personally can’t see how I would adjust volume with the buttons on the back without pushing the phone out of my grip or having awkward hand trouble

    • RaptorOO7

I like the clean lines, no buttons on the front or sides. The volume and power buttons on the back will be something new to get used to but I like the design. Much cleaner than that apple crap.

I still prefer Samsung’s approach to having a physical button rather than taking up screen space. I was skeptical of this phone for a while, but I think it looks quite nice now. But back to sharp angles please, LG. I rather liked the design language of the T-Mobile L9, and it was light and snappy to boot.

It is plastic….and people reading Android Authority HATES plastic! Just go read the S4 reviews!

Look at the bottom picture of the front of the G2…just put a button on that logo…now which phone does that resembles?

Still a awesome phone, but I think LG is playing it save with the looks…I think the next Sony will be better…it will have the same hardware and better looks!

Looks nice. I am curious though how — if thats a power button back there — it won’t be pressed when you put the phone down.

Not really sure they did their homework on the ergonomics of placing the power and volume buttons on the back. For one, think of the awkwardness of taking a landscape pic using one of the the volume keys? Seems like their maybe be a hosts of other negative unintended consequences of this cutesy design approach. Please, function above form for me.
