A French mobile operator revealed on its smartphone software update page that the LG G2 will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in the following weeks.
Without providing an actual update date, SFR has listed “November or December 2013” as the expected KitKat update period for LG’s flagship smartphone, which is what the Nexus 5 is largely based on.
According to SFR, the Android 4.4 KitKat update will arrive as an over-the-air download – nothing strange here – although other details aren’t revealed at this time. While this is a France-related KitKat update schedule, we expect the new OS to be available to LG G2 owners in other regions as well around that time
Android 4.4 KitKat has been quietly made official last week, a surprising move by Google considering it officially announced the name of its next OS update in early September, and is currently available on the Nexus 5 – check out everything you need to know about it here.
Various AOSP KitKat ports for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 have been made available, and even the Galaxy Nexus got its own KitKat version up and running despite not being officially supported anymore.
