Unfortunately this news item is a little cryptic. LG are rumored to release a high-end tablet device offering superior performance, but remaining lighter and thinner providing many “firsts” when compared to its competitors. However, this all but seemed official until LG refused to comment on the news and also removed twitter posts.

The device itself is set to offer Honeycomb, the “tablet PC-version” of the Android OS. Furthermore, it will offer a 8.9-inch display and will be called the LG Pad. We’re excited to hear that this will land in the first quarter of 2011, even though this probably means March. The highlight of the device is almost certainly the dual-core Tegra 2 chip that’s allegedly sat snugly inside.

When we hear more official noises about this device, we’ll be sure to let you know.
