According to a “trusted, industry-related source” Samsung will launch the Galaxy S IV at the Mobile World Congress 2013 which will be held in Barcelona from 25-28 February. Samsung has used European trade shows to launch major products in the past. The Samsung Galaxy S III made its debut in May in London while the Galaxy Note II was announced at IFA in Berlin. And of course the Samsung S II was unveiled at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

This means that a S4 announcement at Barcelona is possible. However, all of these rumors need to be taken with due caution as only a few days ago the speculation was that Samsung would unveil the 2013 flagship Galaxy handset at CES in January.

The S3 has only been shipping since July and if Samsung unveils the S4 at MWC 2013 and starts shipping it in May 2013 then the S3 will have been superseded in less than 10 months. This might not be a happy prospect for users who recently handed over their hard earned cash for the S3.

Also this latest rumor contradicts current speculation that Samsung is having trouble establishing the max production of full HD 4.99 inch panel for the new smartphone. Although the specifications of the S4 can’t be known, it is assumed that the device will feature a full HD display along with an ARM Cortex-A15 based processor from Samsung’s Exynos 5-Series.

One reason why the rapid release of the S4 could be true is because Samsung needs to continue releasing flagship handsets at the same pace as Apple. Current speculation is that Apple will start shipping the iPhone 5S in the summer of 2013. Apple traditionally don’t announce a product until it is ready to ship where as Samsung prefer to announce products several months ahead of their availability dates.

What do you think? Will the S4 and iPhone 5S start shipping this summer?

I don’t believe that it would come so soon, customers (a.k.a. me) will get angry

    • Kelvin

You wouldn’t like to see him get angry either, that avatar will turn into the Hulk. Late adapters but nonetheless, the S4 will be coming in May, the later the better so they can perfect the product and iron out any bugs in time for a possible Android 5.0 launch. The Galaxy S series is definitely the Mercedes S Class of smartphones with new technology every year for each model akin to the Mercedes flagship, a position the IPhone no longer holds.

    • Andrew

yes…customers like you, however customers who did not have the chance to use an upgrade for the s3 will be rejoicing for the chance to get the s4…

      • MasterMuffin

Yea but 30,000,000 people have bought sgs3 and if even half of them at the next time they’re choosing a phone buys HTC or crapple or something, that aint good

        • I have a S3 and I’m waiting for S4, just because of the screen, ram and camera upgrade ;) I want it to come soon, I don’t want to wait another 7 months…

          • MasterMuffin

            Well you’re weird :D

          • Probably :D

MasterMuffin – I don’t know Laszio (the guy that you called weird); but, you’re calling him weird is like calling the kettle black.

          • Cliffy44

MasterMuffin – I don’t know Laszio (the guy that you called weird); nor do I know you. But, you’re calling Laszio weird is like the pot calling the kettle black.
(corrected; as some of my post was missing, after it was posted??????)

You can edit your previous comment you know? :)
And it was just a joke

    • Cliffy44

MasterMuffin – IF the release of the Galaxy S4 (whenever it’s really released) will anger you, then a very simple way to avoid the anger and hostility is to just not purchase the S4.

AND, talk about “getting angry”, Samsung will be very angry to hear that you’re not going to buy their next generation handset; and because of your decision, Samsung might follow in the footsteps of Hostess and permanently close down their entire operation.

      • MasterMuffin

That means that I’m important :O But seriously, some people that bought sgs3 will get angry if this comes so fast :)

  • Michael Muyunda

i doubt this , but it would be cool if it was real.

  • IncCo

doubt it, same kind of rumors that circulated about when the S3 was supposed to be revealed.

  • Matyie

Waiting for s4, still using s2

  • kiwi

I hope the S4 offers a choice of operating systems, Android or Windows 8 mobile.

    • Cliffy44

Kiwi – The Galaxy S4 will be an Android handset (as is the S3 and the S2).

WHY would anyone that knows anything about product regeneration think that Samsung would mess with success, and do such a ridiculous thing????

  • Cliffy44

I love my recently purchased Galaxy S3.

I’ll be waiting for the S5 or the S6; as my contract with AT&T won’t be up, until October 2014 (IF obama still has allowed the US to actually even exist, by then).
