We are happy to report that Last.fm has officially produced a fully supported application for Android, enabling users to listen to their favourite tracks & radio on the go. Last.fm is a popular music gateway where every track played by a user updates their profile and helps build a larger picture of what music each user enjoys listening to. Last.fm can connect you to other people who like what you like – and recommend songs from their music collections and yours too.
The best feature within this application is, of course, the ability to stream your favourite music/radio in the background. It goes without saying that the ability to listen to your favourite music while hunting for something to eat via Google maps is nothing short of awesome, and awesome is what we’ve begun to expect.
Due to the nature of the Android operating system, Last.fm can interface beautifully with other applications on Android, such as Google maps. For example, if you are listening to a track by a band who are currently touring, click the ‘On Tour’ link and view their upcoming gigs. Click a gig and you can RSVP so your Last.fm friends can see what music you’re going to see, but you can also instantly view the location of the gig directly on your phone via the Google maps application by clicking the “view map” link. Snazzy!
