Despite the lack of a specific date, the road to Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has been paved, thanks to the leaked OTA update file for the tablet that we reported about earlier in the week. Now it appears that the official Android 4.1 update has reached at least one lucky owner of the 7-incher in India.

According to, which received the tip about the arrival of Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, the update is already being rolled out by Samsung India over-the-air (OTA). It will reportedly be available on Kies as well, with the file size for the new firmware being pegged at 207MB.

We’re not sure how accurate the tip is, because it was only last week that the Tab 2 7.0 received an official Android 4.0.4 update with some stability fixes. The file size for that particular update was also 207MB. Furthermore, we haven’t seen more owners of the tablet coming out and sharing the good news on the usual online places.

What we’re trying to say is, until we hear more, don’t get your hopes up about the Jelly Bean update. With Samsung only planning to bring it to Galaxy S3 in October, it’d be rather odd for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to receive it first – though not entirely implausible. There’s also a possibility that this is just a test roll-out.

Anyway, we’ll keep you posted and let you know more as we hear it. Be sure to leave some comments below if you see the update on your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

I also thought that is ANDROID 4.1 , though it is not it is the same 4.0.4 , it brings stability and prepares the the GALAXY TAB 2 for ANDROID 4.1 update by changing the baseband version.Changes are:-
    1) New lock screen.
    2) New keyboard.
    3) Dropbox app included.
    4) New version of AllShare app included and some visual changes.

Please SOS to the Android community. Stop at all means 4.1 Jelly Bean update. I have been using Android since its begining and love it so much, but I just returned a nice Google Nexus 7 Quad core, 4.1 etc just because the lack of Flash player and “downgraded” to Galaxy 2 7.0 with 4.1 Icecream Sandwich and love it so much.
Remember Adobe stoped its Flash player mobile development starting with 4.1 and although there are a few posts online about how to install Flash player on 4.1 it does not work on all models because is not fully compatible, It didn’t work for my Nexus 7 and according to Adobe representatives they are not planning
on releasing any flash upgrade any time soon.

It is just a minor update for stability and making the device ready for ANDROID 4.1.Yes you can download it.I did the update and after the update I found out that all the apps that I had were still there so it does not uninstall them, still I would say you do a backup of the data.

Dear All i am Sudheer From India, i have bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 p3100 on 22nd August . and to my surprise, i got my tab with Android 4.0.4 with sealed piece. and yesterday i got a Firmware Update with 207.21 and i thought it is Jelly Bean and i was getting tensed and Exited about the update. but to my shock, even after the firmware installed it was still Android 4.0.4, and it was annoying i dont know what changed good in it. more so it spoiled my previous 4.0.4 experience, now even the internet gone real slow after update.i was getting good internet on 2G before this update now it is hopeless, what annoying now is now the from the touch sounds, we cannot choose what we want but to live with what this firmware gives, they have taken off the options. now we only have water drop sound for touch which is irritating to ears. still there are so many disturbing things like screen display size reduced some what. i don’t know but i feel so. so people we have to wait now for 4.1.1 Jelly bean and we don’t know when it will be released or released at all?

Sorry to say that it is not the Jelly bean update. It is just a stability update for 207 MB with some Improvements in Video Player, Keyboard, and Icons and touch flow. It is still 4.0.4.

Okay, it was the Jelly Bean update. It installed with no issues. To check to see if your device is eligible for the upgrade, go to settings, scroll to about at the bottom, and then click check for updates.
