Stop wishfully thinking that Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean will officially arrive for your Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-I997.  It won't.

But, there's another way for your Infuse 4G to run Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean — through a custom ROM dubbed as CodeName Android.  It is based off a clean, stock version of Android 4.1.1 build JRO03L, so you can expect pure stock Android experience with some mix-ins on the side.

Developed by XDA Developers member Th3Bill, the CodeName Android ROM has a lot of customization options you can play with to tune up your Infuse 4G. The ROM works quite well and is quite fast, as reported by some users who tried the ROM.

This guide shows you how to upgrade the Infuse 4G I997 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via CodeName Android ROM.

The Google play apk doesn’t seem to work. Please post link to the correct version to the right apk, if applicable. Also I can’t install any of the apps from the internet either. Install from the Unknown source option is checked.

Please let me clarify…. I am interested in the CodeName Android 3.6.6 ROM package (CNA_Aries_3.6.6_Signed_Th3Bill.zip, md5sum: 1d8bbb84d265a9c2d55e31a2801dc349………but have read on here that Google play and./or Google apps either isnt included or do not install properly. I am interested in in what files or packages I would need to download to accomplish this. Thanks in advance!

You will have to first install gapps and CM10 version. Then follow steps to install the CNA. I am assuming you know the details, else let me know.

Since the admins seem to have deserted the users, i went straight to the source xda_forum. Got the right packages, including googleapps.apk and now everything works.

    • Prometheus767

Can you share what the “right packages” are please?

I am not sure if links will be allowed, but here goes…. Navigate to android development and choose a ROM. I have learnt to read the first 2 pages qnd last 3/4 pages to make sure i know what i am getting / what works for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1158.

Search on the forum for gapps.
