One of the slimmest and most lightweight ROMs out there is the Slim Bean ROM. For Samsung Infuse 4G SGH-I997 owners, this ROM is one-of-a-kind, as it is very small in size, light on resources, and has been stripped of the “useless” stuff that you can find in stock ROMs.

Even though its been stripped of its padding, it does not compromise on bringing you all the features of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Slim Bean still manages to bring you a smooth user-interface, actionable notifications, smart keyboard, and the rest of the Jelly Bean features.

This is not the official ROM endorsed by Samsung and may still contains some disabled features and bugs. If you've always wanted to have an ultra-lightweight ROM, then this is your chance.

In this guide, learn how to upgrade the Infuse 4G I997 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via Slim Bean custom ROM.

Paul and I.T. are synonyms. If you need help with I.T.-related stuff, call on Paul. His experience with Android phones goes way back to the ancient single-core-phone days. But, he keeps himself up to date, so now he has a dual-core beast in his pocket, and is looking forward to getting his first quad-core monster, and when it comes, his first eight-core phone. Perhaps he should be called Mr. X-Core, where "X" equals the number of CPU cores.

Mine neither–every call is dropped within a few seconds. Same with Cypher and Cyanogen.

Who modded this ROM for the Infuse? It’s not listed among the supported devices at the SlimRoms site, and they’ve already moved to 2.7.0. Is the Infuse hard to port from Galaxy ROMs?

I went through all the steps of recovery mode up to: “Format System” to realize I should have saved the .zip files [total n00b, I know]. Now my phone is stuck in the Samsung icon page when I reboot – can you help?

To start with, don’t use this ROM since whoever did it didn’t bother to mention that the I997 radio won’t work reliably, making it pretty useless as a cell phone.

Pop the battery and let it rest for a minute or two, then try to reboot to recovery, hook it up to your PC and look for ‘mount USB’ or something like that in the recovery menu, and copy the zip over from your PC, then restart the guide from the top. But again, don’t do this because this ROM doesn’t work with the I997 radio.

If you can’t even get back to recovery, then you probably need to reflash Gingerbread or whatever you had before with Odin. If it’s boot looping, pop the battery again before you hook it up in download mode.

If all else fails, Google for “GTG ultimate unbrick infuse download”. Somewhere in the first few hits is a working download link. Flash with Odin 1.7. It’ll revert your phone to more or less out-of-the-box stock (Froyo, all the usual AT&T+Samsung crapware), and you can go ahead at that point and push it back up to whatever mod you had working before.

If none of that works, you’re probably hosed.
