I called Sony Ericsson today and asked about the modem support, and the guy I talked to said that was the only thing he had not tried yet and he had to find out.

When he returned, he told me that the designers of the X10 series (including the mini and the mini pro) are created as "stand alone" phones, where the filosofy is that "you don't need anything else but this phone".

I see that many people will be happy for this phone but I myself need the modem support. Even though you can buy extensions for Android (like PdaNet for android) or free modem software (that need root password and some android/phone hacking) that will create the modem support, I'm unhappy that it has not been included in the X10 and this is the reason for me not to buy any X10 models.

I guess I'll have to wait for the next SE Android phone and hope that it has the features I need.

I have searched allmost everywere if there is a modem in the X10. The specifications on SE:s website says it don't have a modem. I want to use the X10 (if I buy one) connected to my laptop to be able to go out on the internet on the computer. My old W910i has this feature.

Perhaps there is another function in the phone that makes it work as a modem to connect to internet with a laptop. Anyone who knows?
