Facebook for Android now available
It appears that the official Facebook app for Android is now available. We’ve had a couple of reports from folks that it is now available in the Android Market, even though Facebook itself has not issued any kind of press release.
If you’ve installed and are using the app, let us know in the comments what you think of it.
Update: My friend Eric from Phone Scoop has installed the app himself, and says that the publisher is indeed Facebook, so it seems official.

Actually this is not the official facebook application.

I’ve posted my first impressions on my blog -

In summary – I’m not impressed.
Heh, I guess that does throw a a little confusion in to the mixer doesn’t it?
It may be (and I suspect this is the case) that it’s officially endorsed, but not developed, by Facebook, as that “Not developed by Facebook” label is how the official Palm OS and Crackberry Facebook apps appear too.
Seems nicely done. The accompanying widget is kind of obnoxious. Consumes the space of 8 icons (2×4.) Shake to refresh is interesting. A Third party app(fBook) I was using will let you tap on a phone number in a posting to dial it but this one doesn’t. After brief use I’ll tentatively say I like the newer/official Facebook app better
