Opera Mobile coming to Android, says Opera CEO

Opera logoOpera’s CEO, Jon von Tetzchner, told PCMag.com today that his company is currently working on a version of Opera Mobile for the Android platform.  The Opera Mobile browser is already available on Symbian and Windows Mobile, and is a pretty nice browsing platform, to be sure.

But it remains to be seen whether or not people will care on Android, which already has a very nice Webkit-based web browser of its own.  In any case, von Tetzchner only said that the company was working on a version of Opera Mobile for Android, and did not promise that it would actually ship at any point.

Opera Mini is already available for Android.

  1. This is great news! It doesn’t matter wether or not Opera Mobile will get a large portion of the android community. As long is it promotes improvements, then welcome!
