HTC Hero basically confirmed for Sprint in U.S.

EngadgetMobile has found an HTC support page that lists a Sprint version of the HTC Hero, which all but confirms what we’ve been hearing in the rumor mills for some time: the HTC Hero is going to be offered by Sprint in the U.S.
For those of you that were looking to get the device on AT&T, we feel your pain. We already knew that T-Mobile USA had no plans to offer the Hero.
I’m going to be at a breakfast meeting with Sprint CEO Dan Hesse tomorrow morning, so hopefully I can get some more information about Sprint’s Android plans at that time.
I don’t think so. If you see the spec of Hero in HTC website, you can see which baseband chip was used. Hero’s modem chip is Qualcomm 7200. 7200 is just for UMTS, not CDMA. As you know, Sprint is CDMA network carrier.
That’s the GSM version of the Hero, obviously the CDMA version would use a CDMA chipset.
Right, that much should be obvious since HTC does this all the time. The original design for the Snap, for example, was GSM/UMTS, yet that didn’t stop them from releasing a CDMA version for Sprint and Verizon. Same thing here.
