T-Mobile G1 auto screen rotation app now available

Praise be to the gods of open source.  It appears that some smart fella has put together an app for the T-Mobile G1 that handles automatic screen rotation based on the accelerometer instead of only rotating the screen when the keyboard is exposed.

Sweet.

That should make a lot of folks happy as they are web browsing and doing things on their G1s (the browser doesn’t support the auto-rotate function).  Better yet, the app also gives you a way to reboot your phone or to remount the Linux /system directory as read/write or read-only – something useful for people digging around a bit more than the typical user.

The needed software is available from the DroidSans website. You can see a video of the app in action after the jump.

  1. NOTE: this tweak app only works after 2 extremele intricate mods that can ruin the os in your phone if not done correctly, if you are not familiar with linux coding and development i strongly advise to stay away from this one, or wait till update is released. BEWARE.
