Dream no more: T-Mobile launches G1 smartphone with Google
Google has finally taken the wraps off its first Android phone, the G1 from T-Mobile. The new smartphone runs on Google’s open source software, exclusive to T-Mobile in the States and the UK.
The HTC manufactured G1 offers connectivity for global use with GSM support as well as 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity (GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS 1700/2100MHz). WiFi is also on board. Full HTML web browsing with tap to zoom is available on the new smartphone along with a bevy of Google apps including Google Maps with a compass mode. The G1 also features a 3 megapixel camera, GPS, and Bluetooth.
Other features of note include:
- 3.2″ 65k color HVGA touchscreen
- 256MB RAM
- microSD card slot
- SMS/MMS/IM support
- music player
- YouTube support
- 5 hours of talk time, 5.4 days of standby
The T-Mobile G1 will be available October 22 in the U.S. for US$179 and is available for pre-order today. The G1 will also be available in the UK starting in November and customers can register at www.t-mobile.co.uk/tmobileg1.
Thank u T-mobile for making ur dream a reality as,it had been only a dream to buy a smartphone with all facilities on board for this cheap until now. I realy admier the new sexy look of it ,the 3G facility and Bluetooth. I also hope that it would be the same what you say it is. Thanx again T-mobile!
