Wall Street Journal: September 23rd launch date for T-Mobile G1
The Wall Street Journal posted its own story about the supposed September 23rd launch date for the first Google Android OS based smartphone, courtesy of HTC and T-Mobile. While the story doesn’t mention the T-Mobile G1 by name, instead using the HTC Dream moniker, the WSJ is saying that the phone will be announced next week and will be available for purchase late next month (October).
As is typical, the story quotes “people familiar with the matter.”
We’ve heard before that HTC has said that it expects to sell 600,000 to 700,000 copies of the Dream/G1 before the end of the year, but the WSJ chimes in that analysts are expecting a much lower 300,000 to 500,000 in sales.
No matter what, it seems that this party is about to get started….
