It looks like Google is gearing up to release a few new features for Inbox to help further improve email sorting. An APK teardown from Android Police reveals that “Highlights” and “Reply and follow-up suggestions” might soon be available for Inbox users across the globe.

Starting with the first feature, Highlights will bring high priority emails to the top for easy access. Inbox will probably take a number of different factors into consideration to figure out which emails are more important than others such as the sender, deadlines, and so on.

There’s also a button present that allows you to mark the messages that shouldn’t appear in Highlights in the future, which basically tells Inbox which emails aren’t a priority for you. The great thing about the feature is that it’s optional, which means you’ll be able to turn it off in the settings in case you don’t want to use it.

The Reply and follow-up suggestions feature, which is known internally as “nudging” internally, keeps tabs on the emails you might have forgotten about. These include those you have received but never replied to for some reason, and those that have been sent but haven’t received a reply yet. In these two cases, Inbox will notify you after a certain period of time to check the emails and follow up if required. In case you don’t want to receive these notifications, you’ll be able to turn them off in the settings.

Please keep in mind that the features aren’t official yet, but the APK is already available. You can get it from APKMirror via the button below.
