Official Imgur BETA app hits Google Play, currently only available in Australia

Popular image hosting site Imgur has now released an official app to the Play Store, at least if you happen to live in the land down under. Right now the app is still in beta, and apparently Imgur decided to use Australia as a test-bed for the beta.

For those lucky enough to have access to it, Imgur’s new app allows you to do just about everything you can do from the official website including browsing content, commenting and voting on images and even makes it easy to upload images directly from your phone or tablet. The interface also appears to be very clean and easy to use, at least based on the screenshots we’ve seen.

Currently there is no word on how long the app will stay in the ‘beta’ stage, or how long before they push out access to more regions. For now those of us Imgur users with an Android device will have to be content with a third party app like Imgur for Android. Any of our readers in Australia manage to snag the official Imgur app yet? If so, what do you think?

It works perfectly and uploads damn quick from a decent net connection. There also doesn’t seem to be missing anything, you can do everything on your device that you can on the website.

Definitely worth the install for Imgur fans, hopefully the rest of the world doesn’t have to wait too long,
