In addition to releasing a new version of web based Gmail for Android, Google recently announced a new version of iGoogle for Android (and iPhone) users.  The new app claims a quicker and easier experience for mobile users.

The new update also allows for simple gadgets (originally present soley on the standard computer site) to be viewed from within the mobile browser.  Also, Android users will be able to view feeds by clicking on the header to expand each topic.  The update also supports 38 different languages.

The only web app I use is Google Reader, and that’s because there isn’t a decent app for it! How will a web based app ever be faster if besides the data it also has to download the UI?

This effort is as relevant as if someone told me that google employees spent the last week washing their cars in the parking lot.
