Ice Cream Sandwich Update now rolling out to all WiFi Motorola Xoom Owners [Updated]

January 18, 2012

Great news for all of you owners of the Motorola Xoom Wifi-only models, Late last night/early this morning, Motorola began the roll out of Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0.3 to your device. Reports are saying that it is all the same as the recent “project” that we have heard so much about from Motorola.  It’s an OTA, and like all OTA’s will roll out in stages of some sort or another and nobody is sure how it’s calculated.

So go ahead and go into Settings and check for your software update, we know you’re anxious to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on your beloved Motorola Xoom. Once you get the update head to the comments below and let us know how big the update is, how long it took to install, any problems, and most of all how much you love the update to Android 4.0. We do not have a manual download link yet, but check the comments there is sure to be one there eventually.

Update: It seems the update to ICS is only available in the US, unfortunately.

You say “Great news for all of you owners of the Motorola Xoom Wifi-only models”, that should read “Great news for all of you owners of the Motorola Xoom Wifi-only models in the US” as it’s not an international update.

I wasn’t aware that it was a “US only” update, I will update that in the post now.

Only in the USA? What the *&^%

No update yet on my [US] Xoom, will keep you posted.

Still no pushed update. I’ve heard some are having issues with Netflix, although that may just be plugin related.

      ..We shall see.

    Wtf! US only? FAIL!

Says Aug 8th before we can upgrade

As of 6:45PM PST no sign of upgrade–still showing Honeycomb 3.2.1

I received the ICS update this am (1/19/2012) on my Motorola XOOM. It went smoothly and took no more than 10 minutes. Why did they eliminate the + sign from the upper right hand corner in order to see all five menu windows at one time?

I remember when google released the ICS source and everyone was sure CM9 would be out by the time Motoroala got around to releasing ICS. Sure there’s a few unofficial CM9 roms out there, but it would have been nice to see CM come out ahead on this one.

The browser no longer plays the embedded videos and only showed a blue cube with question mark. Anyone has this problem or know of a solution?

Just like to point out that I recieved the update and I live in Bradford UK, so it seems it is not only a US update

I’m not able to install the update on my rooted Xoom. The whole update downloads, but after the automatic reboot, I get the error message saying the update was unsuccessful. Anyone else got the same problem?
