Back in July, Hulu announced they were working hard to add official support for Google’s impressive $35 dongle, the Chromecast. Now the day has finally come!

While Chromecast owners previously were able to stream Hulu content using Chrome’s tab cast feature, this experience was less than perfect. The good news is that – according to Google’s official blog – Hulu is now rolling out an app update that fully supports the Chromecast on your Android phone and tablet. The only downside is that you’ll need an active Hulu Plus subscription to get in on the action, which will set you back $7.99 a month.

Once you’ve updated to the new version of Hulu Plus, bringing content over to your Chromecast is as easy as pressing Hulu Plus’ new “Cast Button”.

For those that have yet to pick up a Chromecast, now could be the perfect time to do it, as this is hopefully just the beginning of great things to come for Google’s media streamer.

For those that currently own the Chromecast, what do you think of the added Hulu Plus support? What other great apps and services would you like to see come to the Chromecast?

This is some great news for Chromecast. A lack of big name apps made it seem dead already, getting Hulu will hopefully encourage a lot more support

You’re the only person I’ve ever heard refer to it as “dead.”

What this guy said, it’s relatively new and things take time especially I’d they have to make changes to their back end a bit, bug testing. And I doubt many companies got a heads up copy other then maybe Netflix, Pandora was announced during the announcement of this and its still not out. So give it time, not even close to read yet. Things will be even better when it gets out of beta.

My actual comment was, ‘seem dead’ as in not much news surrounding it. It isn’t close to dead, but what I meant was that it seemed as if it would not end up fulfilling the initial high expectations and huge potential from when it was first announced.

This seems odd that they support Chromecast but not GoogleTV. Everyday I wish so much I could actually get some use out of my GoogleTV but every day I realize that it is getting more and more likely that it’s going to end up in the bottom of a drawer somewhere.

I actually bought one of these last week.

It would be nice to be able to just watch regular Hulu too.

Not too excited about this, but it’s good that Chromecast is getting more supports.
I hope they would also add support for Hulu free

Add Amazon Instant View, damnit. And don’t just rehash the crappy GTV version for the Chromecast either.

when is Pandora support coming? that is what I”m waiting for… I dont understand what is so dang difficult about it

  • Robert Henninger

    I’m waiting for PLEX app.
