HulloMail MP3 voicemail app now available for UK G1 owners

HulloMail MP3 voicemail app now available for UK G1 owners

I recently tried out HulloMail for my mobile, and it is now available from the Android Market. It is really a neat program that allows you to view your voicemails from your G1 Android device very easily… kinda like a Visual-Voicemail application. But this little piece of software also offers up something new and rather original. The only catch is you need to be based on a UK contract phone.

When someone leaves you a voicemail, you can also have it notify you via email. But that’s not all. It will also convert the voicemail to MP3 and email it to you so you can keep it forever, and also access it when you are away from your phone or have run out of battery (but are near an internet connection/browser). Obviously this affords the ability to fast forward and rewind your voice mails as you wish.

The whole process is very easy to set up.   As long as you follow the well-written onscreen instructions carefully, it is a breeze! It can also alert you to a miss call via email as well, which is awesome since I am always terrible and spotting my missed calls!

Thanks for this review – you’ve really understood what we’re doing.

FYI we’ve improved the user experience with some nifty added features.

There’s a button to toggle the speakerphone on and off if you want to play your messages aloud. Messages now play back via the earpiece by default to enhance privacy.

When you get a new voicemail you now get both a visual and audio alert instead of a text. You can customize the audio alert with another sound.

There’s a few more things coming soon too.

    Thanks

It looks interesting, however there is a serious catch from T-Mobile UK. The problem is that diverts are not included in free minutes (at least there are not included in FLEXT the only practical plan for the G1). As a consequence a user has to pay 20p/minute for a diverted call. And one has no control over it…
The (pretty useless, it keeps messages for 3 days ..) standard voice mail divert is free, but there is a charge for retrieving a voice mail (12p). At least, if you find 50 voice mails you might want to hang up ;-)

It would be nice to have a configurable option to limit a length of a single call to HulloMail. This could save the budget.

It’s hard to believe that in the 21st century we still have to use a ‘sequential’ voice mail system, a product of the eighties
