The wafer-thin Huawei Ascend P1 is about to enter the Canadian market with a bang. Teaming up with Alliance Films and Wind Mobile – as the phone’s first confirmed carrier in the country – Huawei Canada is holding a “WIND Mobile Expendables 2 Sweepstakes” contest. The lucky winner will get to go to Los Angeles to watch the movie premiere of “The Expendables 2”, starring action flick hero Sylvester Stallone.
But first, here’s more information about the Ascend P1 and its launch in Canada. Though the phone comes in a diminutive 7.6 mm body, it boasts a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display of 960×540 resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 1.3MP front camera, 1,670mAh battery and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The launch date has not been specified by Huawei and Wind Mobile. Given that the contest will start July 9 and end on July 23, it’s safe to assume that the Ascend P1 will be available to purchase from WIND pretty soon.
More details about the contest can be found on the Facebook page of the carrier. Aside from getting to take an extra friend to Hollywood for the movie premiere and stay in a 4-star hotel for two nights, you’ll also get the phone plus 2 free months of WIND Mobile service.
