Chinese manufacturer Huawei is promising carriers that its Google Android powered smartphone will be ready for sale in the third quarter of 2009. A company spokesperson told the Australian ZDNet folks that:
“Huawei can confirm that their first Android smartphone is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009. Huawei’s smartphones can be ordered and developed for Australian operators based on any such requests”
So while Huawei is saying when the phone will be available, it isn’t saying what carriers, if any, are currently planning to offer it. The more, the merrier we say.
