Huawei Ideos U8150

Huawei has let the cat out of the bag and made a pre-announcement regarding its new Android 2.2-powered smartphone, the Ideos U8150.  The new handset is expected to be offered at an affordable price point and should feature Froyo, a large 2.8-inch color touchscreen, a 3.2mp shooter, and WiFi.  We expect to see the official announcement next week at IFA in Berlin, Germany.

The price point is good but if you can stomach Android 2.1 maybe for the long run then the Orange San Francisco (made by ZTE) gives you an 800×480 OLED capacitative display at 3.5 inches. Also on the web there is a thread that shows this has already been running with the “orange” elements squeezed out and a pretty well standard Android ROM. All for £99 on PAYG.

Once unlocking for this device comes through I would argue it makes this Handset look rather “low rent”?
