According to the IDG News Service, HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, said earlier today that his company will put out at least 3 new Android based smartphones in 2009.

We’ve already got the HTC Magic (Sapphire), so that’s one.  The “Android Hero” has also been seen in the HTC roadmap.

The statement was made at a Merrill Lynch technology conference in Taiwan.

Update: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Peter Chou has said that one of the new devices will be the second generation version of the T-Mobile G1.
