According to IDG News, HTC has announced that they have plans to release two new Android phones in China this year marketed under their Chinese subsidiary brand, Dopod. They hope to be the first to release Android devices in China.
The two devices to be released are named the Hero (at 5,600 Yuan or $820) and the Click (at 3,400 Yuan or $500). The Dopod Hero is nearly identical to the HTC Hero released in the west, whereas the Click will be a low-end Android device with a removable front cover that has never been announced outside of China.
The devices should be released some time in late August, and will not come with Google Maps pre-installed, as all applications pre-loaded on the device must first pass regulatory tests by the Chinese government.
