Today is the big day for HTC. The Taiwanese smartphone maker has been struggling for almost two years to maintain its relevance in the cutthroat mobile industry. With profits dwindling and the high-end Android market virtually monopolized by Samsung, HTC must deliver a great smartphone today. Will the HTC One mark the beginning of the comeback for the once mighty HTC? We’ll see in just a few hours.
To ensure the biggest possible impact, HTC opted to have simultaneous HTC One launch events, in London and New York. It’s a testament to the company’s determination to make the HTC One the device of the moment.
The HTC One (previously known under the M7 codename) is rumored to have a full HD display, an innovative camera featuring a layered sensor (its resolution measured in Ultrapixels), stereo speakers, and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. We also expect to see the latest iteration of the HTC Sense overlay today, with leaked screenshots indicating a major redesign is in the pipeline. Surprises are not excluded.
Android Authority will be attending the New York HTC One launch event, starting at 10AM EST. Kristofer Wouk will be there to bring you hands-on images and video of the HTC One, first impressions, and quick comparisons with some of the hottest devices of the moment. Kris will be live blogging the event and try to answer your questions about the new HTC One.
