HTC just gave word on its’ official Facebook page that the first round of Android 4.0 updates would be available before the end of March, and it looks like the HTC Thunderbolt will not be in the first round. So what phones are getting updated?

  • HTC Sensation
  • HTC Sensation 4G
  • HTC Sensation XE
  • HTC Sensation XL
  • HTC Rezound
  • HTC EVO 3D
  • HTC EVO Design 4G
  • HTC Vivid
  • HTC Incredible S
  • HTC Desire S
  • HTC Desire HD

Here’s HTC’s full official statement:

HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.

In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

Well, we’ve got to hand it to HTC; certainly a decent amount of devices to start the grand update to ICS. But, surprisingly, the HTC Thunderbolt is missing. Thunderbolt owners just can’t catch a break, hopefully either HTC surprises us and brings an update to the Thunderbolt by March or it’s at the top of round two, whenever that will be.

Is your phone listed here? Are you excited to finally get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on your HTC device? Let us know in the comments.

Been running ics on my desire HD for a month now. :)

They said the rezound was getting this in the first quarter. This makes me want to root my phone now.

    • The first quarter ends at the end of march, so it’s still slated to get ICS in Q1.

HTC seems to abandoning the Thunderbolt buyers. I know the phone only has single core processor, but the phone runs gingerbread fine. Is multiple core processor needed for ICS?

  • After all the dicking around & grief us TBolt owners have gotten since day one. We should be first in line to get ICS. Thanks HTC you really encourage me to buy another HTC on my next upgrade. Thanks for all the support you’ve given us TBolt owners.

Yeah with everything that htc does aside, I have had several HTC phones that have been neglected and missed out on updates in the past, other manufactures are just as guilty. But saying that you wont use HTC again because they aren’t updating a phone, is some what ridiculous. I look at best options out when it is time to upgrade and base it off of that, as well as likehood that it will get updated. I still think that as far as construction, and performance HTC phones are still next to none.
    HTC Hero dropped at 2.2
HTC Evo and Evo Shift dropped at 2.3
HTC Evo 3D finally a win

Look at the track record for any of the others, you’ll see the same thing
