Finally, HTC have made the kernel to the beloved HTC Hero available to developers to have their way with. Until now, one of the biggest issues for those wanting to develop for the HTC Hero was the fact that the ROM was not publically available. Now these wrongs have been made right and for those that are interested, the HTC Hero kernel can be obtained from HTC’s development center.

Not to quash all the hard work performed by HTC with a wave of a hand, I should mention that the beautiful HTC Sense UI was a masterpiece in the first place. However, it is now very likely that we shall see coders make speed improvements, tweaks, modifications and all sorts of crazy things that will alter the user interface somewhat. Indeed, it may allow those interested in building their own user interfaces an insight into how to go about starting.

If you are a budding developer, head on over to this link and check out what HTC have on offer. While you’re at it, head over to the official Android Developers website for more resources, including SDK, Guides and References for development on HTC Android phones.

In tomorrows news HTC makes big mistake not offering this model to our market? Where just as smart about tech as the Japanese HTC. Honestly im not sure even that would save it at this point.
