It appears as though EngadgetMobile has spotted a version of the HTC Hero with 850/1900MHz 3G support for AT&T’s network on the U.S. government’s FCC website. This does not necessarily mean that we will see that version…

HTC Hero coming to Sprint on October 11?
We’ve heard rumblings of this for a long time, but this is the first time I’ve seen an actual piece of photographic proof, weak as it might be in these Photoshop days.
This comes from an XDA-Developers forum member that has been making the same October 11 claim for Sprint and the Hero for some time.
