HTC Hero and Samsung WiMAX Android phone heading to Sprint?

android sprint yellowFile this one squarely under rumors, for now, but PhoneNews.com is reporting that a Sprint source has told it that Sprint is currently testing a CDMA version of the HTC Hero that was just announced on Wednesday.  The site also reports that Sprint is testing a dual-mode CDMA/WiMAX Android handset from Samsung.

The site is reporting that the Hero for Sprint is scheduled for a December, 2009 launch, which would fit in with the “in 2009″ remark from HTC about U.S. availability of the device.

The mysterious Samsung handset, on the other hand, is less clear.  The story suggests that it is scheduled for some time in 2010 based on a prior comment from Sprint that a tri-mode phone would be available in that time frame.
