Mobiletechworld had a chance to top-up on their MWC information with a presentation from HTC on their Legend/Desire/HD Mini. The most interesting piece of knowledge that they gained from the presentation was that this device is likely to receive an upgrade, after launch, to allow the device to support DivX. It is ironic talking about an upgrade to an as yet unavailable device. Nonetheless, HTC seemed perfectly serious.
Furthermore, there is the possibility that the same upgrade could bring with it an update to the video encoding prowess of the device. There are rumors that HTC will update the phone’s camera with 720P encoding capabilities. Unfortunately, not much more was said about this particular upgrade, which I know is important to many. Despite the fact that HTC are already talking about updating a phone we haven’t had a proper chance to use yet, we’re interested to see more devices receive a 720p upgrade to sharpen their encoding capabilities.
