Install Touch-enabled Amon Ra Recovery on Acer Iconia Tab A500

by: Carl ParkerFebruary 17, 2012

What good is a touchscreen if it doesn’t get used every single chance it gets? A few developers have been aspiring to fully utilize touchscreens and the Acer Iconia Tab A500 is one of the lucky few tablets that gets a touch-enabled custom recovery. You won’t need to fiddle with buttons anymore to navigate your way around the functions. We’re talking about a fully touch-based user interface. Need to make a Nandroid backup or wipe your cache? No problem. Simply tap on the screen to do what you need to.

Thanks to drellisidee, member of the XDA-Developers forum, a touch-enabled Amon Ra recovery was developed from the Amon Ra recovery source. For users who [...]

Upgrade Samsung Epic 4G to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich via CyanogenMod 9

by: Carl ParkerFebruary 17, 2012

With the CyanogenMod team pushing CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) onto as many devices as possible, it was only expected that the Samsung Epic 4G gets its share of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Because this is still an alpha release, there are bugs that need to be addressed. The bugs are not major problems though–just tiny snags such as the camera crashing when you change the picture size, video recording sometimes showing artifacts, and MMS sometimes being unreliable. Since this is an official release by the CyanogenMod team at the helm, it’s only a matter of time before a more stable build will be released.

Despite its bugs, CM9 has several working functions, such [...]

How to Find Free APK Files of Android Games Apps and Widgets

by: Bern OliverFebruary 17, 2012
Android APK or application package files are saved with an '.apk' extension, which is an extension of JAR. If you own an Android device, it will already have installed APK files on it, making it possible for you to distribute and install different Android applications, as well as run it regardless of the Android operating system that you have.

Yet again, Samsung Galaxy S owners are getting an upgraded firmware for their handsets.  Known as firmware XWJW1, the upgrade is an update for Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread on the Galaxy S GT-I9000.  It reportedly provides great performance, especially in battery life.
