The Galaxy S2 is the flagship phone of Samsung and is one of the best Android devices you can get. If you’re wondering how to get rid of those annoying Samsung apps or want to get the most from Samsung’s finest, here’s how. This is the safest way to root your Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.

Requirements:

Got everything? Let’s get to it.

  1. First download and extract DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip using Winzip/Winrar.
  2. Next, make sure you have installed the ADB drivers for your device. Just follow this guide if you have not installed it yet
  3. Next enable USB Debugging. Tap on Menu > Settings> Applications > Development. Make sure the “USB Debugging” setting is checked.
  4. Next enable Unknown sources. Click Menu> Settings> Applications. Make sure the “Unknown sources” setting is checked
  5. Then, when you’ve made sure of everything, connect your phone to your computer using its data cable.
  6. Lastly, go to the folder where you extracted the files of DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
  7. Look for and run “Runme.bat”
  8. Follow the instructions that it shows you.

That’s it! Your phone is finally rooted using the latest zergRush exploit (16 Nov). You will also have a couple of nice tools installed as well.

  1. busybox (1.18.4) – Busy Box is something that you install on your Android that gives you access to additional handy LINUX / UNIX based commands. It helps with the heavy lifting for some of the root level tasks you need to do.
  2. SU files (binary:  3.0.3 and apk: 3.0.6) – These files help you gain a “Super User” icon that enables you run any application, including root-only ones.

Well, that was the easiest root ever! Thanks!

  • Mike

    This worked wonderfully. Thank you!

Do you get nervous when trying to root the phone?

This is my first smartphone (im in high school) and if it gets bricked, ill have to wait 2 years.

      • 3ck82

even if you brick it there are ways to recover it. there really isn’t such thing as “bricked” anymore. no guts no glory!! :)

        • Mstrgq

Not entirely true. I’ve got a bricked MyTouch 4G sitting right next to me. And when I say bricked, I mean bricked. However, it is much much easier to recover from bad flashes, root attempts, etc. now. It takes a lot to truly brick a phone.

Same thing for my Skyrocket. It does not work. Are we doing something wrong? My current data of the phone: Android 2.3.6. Baseband V I727UCKK1. Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UCKK1.

      • Mstrgq

        This only works for 2.3.5.

  • Alex

Work smoothly for galaxy S2! Thanks

  • Trycks
    • Nbuck118

Having the same problems as loblong and mr. b, and neither of these methods have worked. Same outcome.

    • Loblong

Neither of those is working. I think it’s because of the 2.3.6 update. There appears to be no root exploit for that update

  • markeightch

not working for me, any help would be appreciated. I’m attaching an image of the procedure . . .

    • nick

Anyone have a working root for 2.3.6?

  • Anonymous

Pretty sure that geeks and non geeks alike are not interested in last
years tech presented as this years. Even if the price is cheaper than
prime, it would still make more sense to get the original Acer Iconia
tab for even less. I have already seen them for $249

  • slingshot2012

is there a working root for GS2 skyrocket upgrade to Android 4.0 ice cream sandwich? At&t sent a text saying this upgrade was available…will it destroy or affect
    my present root?

  • Rick Ramo

Ok, so now the i727 is running with oem 404. Now who has the least problematic rooter for ICS404 (oem) on the AT&T SGH-i727. Perhaps it is a bit early. That only became available last week.

  • dd

my laptop doesn’t recognize the phone, but I followed every step you mentioned like adb driver installing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/craigdanzigar Craig Bird

i edited this exploit and included the drivers you need for my own usage the link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?7cwvij0fpvqwj3t

    • http://www.facebook.com/craigdanzigar Craig Bird

it needs to recognise the phone to work!

  • kevin

it keeps failing to root my phone and i dont know what to do to change it please email me with some info rolltide9669@yahoo.com

  • JC

I also downloaded and Norton said it was malicious. Pretty shitty!

  • D-GKillr

Will updating a rooted Galaxy S2 skyrocket from gingerbread UCLA3 to
    Android 4.0 affect root?

    • http://www.facebook.com/craigdanzigar Craig Bird

it shouldn’t effect root as it only updates your os not your files already installed
