A little more then a week ago we reported that the Droid RAZR had been rooted before its release. Shortly before the official release of the RAZR @ 11:11 on 11/11/11 the root method has been made available. This is not the same 1-step program that has been used on the Bionic or Droid 3, but it is the same walk through. With this root method available, hopefully some developers can get to work on some debloated ROM’s for the RAZR. Also be careful when rooting your RAZR and messing around with the system files, no SBF or FXZ are available should you softbrick your phone.

Steps

Step 1: If you havent done so already, first download and install the Motorola Drivers for you Windows computer: 32-bit or 64-bit.

Step 2: Download and extract this file to your desktop.

Step 3: From your RAZR’s app drawer, goto Settings > Applications > Development and enable USB Debugging.

Step 4: Connect your RAZR via USB cable to your PC and select Charge Only from the notification menu.

Step 5: Goto the folder where you downloaded and extracted the folder and files onto your desktop in step 2

Step 6: Click on to runme.bat file and wait for it to finish its process, you will know its done when your phone reboots.

If everything was done correctly, your phone should now be rooted.

Why is there never instructions on how to root a device iusing Mac OS?

    • Brandon Sobotta

I know the Bionic has Mac instructions for root. Since the RAZR has just been released it maybe be a while till a Mac way to root it will be released.

Because since you like over paying for less computer it is assumed you would do the same for your phone.

      • Timothyjon86

But seriously I’m sure there will be in time, just give it a couple weeks

I went to VZ yesterday to look at the RAZR and I must say the Pix-elation and discoloration around the text is disappointing. Ive been using QHD displays on HTC phones and I think they have the best and realistic displays. HTC Rezound here I come!

I have to say the main reason I wouldnt buy a RAZR is because I would want the 720 display. I also wouldn’t buy the Nexus since Samsung build quality is subpar. Out of the 3 I have to agree I would get the Rezound, my only hesitation is the Processor, they should have brought it up to this generation.

Im ok with the processor, but with the high resolution it would be nice to have a larger screen or a larger capacity battery.

Do you have the phone yet Krishaun, what do you think?
