    How long does this take?

    • Aid

Less than 5min, assuming you have an Intel i5 processor or greater

  • Sdrob27

I just re-rooted my droid X and this took only a few minutes and seems to work just great. I had rooted my phone twice before, but due to system “up grades” each time lost root access. This was probably the easiest that I have done yet. Thanks Much!

  • DJK

MIne just comes back up and says
    Bootloader
    30.04
    Battery OK
    OK to program
    Transfer Mode:
    USB

    • DJK

NM, I figured it out. I just had to unplug the USB until the red EYE splash came on and then plug it back in….then everything worked. Eazy Breezy Beautiful.

      • Cld51720011

hi i did double check, usb debugging is enabled. i do believe that this root is for my phone..droid x android version 2.3.3 and system version 4.5.605. i dont understand what could be going on. any ideas?

        • some guy

did u install the motorola universal drivers first? the .msi that the above instructions ask you to download (in 32 or 64 bit, depending on pc os) – you need to run that first. until you do, pete’s will hang while looking for your phone…

  • Kevinjhite

Rooting seemed to work. I still can’t unistall bogus apps like blockbuster. What am I doing wrong?

  • Boomer539

I think it was fixed :(

  • Leonard_crockett

    will this work for .621?

  • DNeuwir

No matter what I try, this and several other root tools all give the same error: fails due to being unable to get su props in stage 3. I have System 4.5.621.MB810 (Droid X).

  • Whitley

How do I do it on a Mac?

    • Aid

I have a MacBook Pro that I installed Windows 7 on a HDD partition I created for this sort of use. Doing it on a Mac will require advanced knowledge of the Mac OS. I advise using a windows based system.

  • Fadetoal

ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method

  • john

cant download petes motorola root tools, goes to drop box error

  • anon

  • Canaan Landis

When I click on the PetesMotorolaRootTools_v1.06.zip link, it sends me to some email provider called dropbox.com. A little help, please?

    • Canaan Landis

Ok, so it appears it’s not an email provider, but th link 404s when I click on it.

  • BMan

How long does the process take from the time I click Root, and is there any sign of progress while it is working? I tried it and it said rooting but then nothing happened for a while and I got scared and bailed out.

If the link for the root tools isn’t available for you, use this link to get it.

  • Ravnikar610

Every time i try running Pete’s root tools it says that my phone has a version to work around me rooting it. Is there any way i can still root?!?!?

  • Colin

Tried to install the 32 bit driver in the directions, but it won’t because I have the newer version. Then tried to install the RootTools but it comes up with a DropBox error (?) Any help, suggestions, advice would be great. Thanks!

  • Cape

  • sal

Root worked for me. DroidX 2.3.3
    Thank you.

  • kevdenz

when i try to run it ”

ERROR: you are missing ADB.EXE, which was packaged with this program.

Make sure that you extract all files with this one-click root package.” what could I be doing wrong?

  • Ruben

will this work with a droid X that is running 2.3.4? if not where can i find a walk through for that? (its a completely virgin device to any rooting.)
