How to Root Motorola Droid Razr

The Motorola Droid Razr is one of the new android phones in the market, unfortunately it has a lock bootloader so we cannot change kernels or radios until someone cracks it. But do not worry because we can still ROOT our Motorola Droid Razr so that we will be able to use apps that require superuser permissions (Ti Backup, Root Explorer, Etc). We will be able to remove bloat. We will even be able to load custom ROMs.

Now to fully maximize the capability of the phone you need to ROOT it, luckily Android Authority found a way on how to do it in the easiest way.

Requirements:

  • Motorola Droid Razr
  • USB Data Cable
  • Computer (windows)
  1. First, download and install this Motorola driver into your computer.
  2. Download DooMLoRD_v2_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
  3. Next, extract it to a new folder via winzip/winrar.
  4. Enable USB Debugging in your Motorola Droid Razr, on your homescreen tap menu> settings> application> development > then USB Debugging.
  5. Connect your Motorola Droid Razr to your computer via its USB data cable, select Charge Only option from notifications drawer.
  6. Next open the new folder with the extracted files, find and double- click the runme.bat to run the program.
  7. Lastly, follow the instructions and wait for it to finish.
  8. That’s it, your Motorola Droid Razr is finally Rooted!

Just want to point out that I followed all of the steps and it claims that my phone is “rooted” but I see nothing different. For exmaple: I still cannot uninstall Madden, etc. It did absolutely NOTHING.

You can find apps in the Market that will uninstall the uninstallable after you’ve rooted your phone. And feel confident that you’ve likely spent your time in better pursuits than the average asshole who, though perhaps quite knowledgeable about the android OS, wastes valuable time and space posting innane, unhelpful and awkward responses to honest questions.

umm, i just rooted in like two second, then i uninstalled madden in a split second, lol … hold your finger on madden icon till pop up window apears and gives you the option to uninstall lol….that simple

Lol that’s because you can’t do it via the uninstaller you waterhead. You probably shouldn’t be messing with your phone if you are that dumb.

[i come from the samsung charge which is very different and just got this phone yesterday] i followed the instructions, [i use barnacle] so when i use it, it also shows up “tethering or mobile hotspot active” and when i connect from my computer it still doesnt work, now it does access su, and i allowed it, which shows to me that its rooted, but somethings not right… any help?

    • Mikejose90

update: i tried a different tethering app, wifi tether v3, and when i go to connect the original “tethering or mobile hotspot active” icon in the status bar dissapears, and it connects, i was just worried that it would be detectable by the big man. sorry!
