For those of you who enjoyed typing “reboot” to restart your G1 (and showed it to all of your friends), and found yourself unable to do so after receiving the RC30 update, the folks at XDA Developers have found a way to regain this functionality.
The relatively simple steps involve several reboots, reflashing the G1 to an earlier firmware version, typing in telnetd, and downloading the Android Telnet client onto your G1. The instructions and RC27/RC29 version updates can be found here.
