honor 5x

It’s been rumored for quite some time, and it’s finally official – Huawei has just announced that the Honor 5X will soon be available for purchase in the United States on Amazon. First announced back in November 2015, the Honor 5X sports some decent specifications, a premium build and a relatively low price point.

As a quick overview, the Honor 5X comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, and microSD expansion up to 128GB. It also comes with a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and a 3000mAh battery that Huawei says will get you up to 740 hours of standby time in some cases.

You’ll be able to purchase the Honor 5X later tonight on Amazon. We’ll be updating this post with pricing information once it’s been announced.

Huawei Mate 8 hands-on and first impressions

January 5, 2016

Earlier today at its press event, Huawei announced the global launch of the Mate 8, the company’s latest flagship smartphone. Even though the Mate 8 isn’t coming to the U.S. at this time, Huawei’s recent announcements signal that the company is serious about expanding to more and more markets around the world. We expect this is just the start for this Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll be up to next.

Like we said before, the 5X will be available on Amazon a bit later tonight, and we’ll provide a link when it’s available. So tell us, what are your thoughts? Are you planning on picking one up anytime soon? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Update: now available on Amazon, shipping January 31:

I’d prefer Blu life one X. Similar specs and 50 bucks less

    • Saad Naeem

Honor 5X has a more premium metal body, better SoC, a fingerprint scanner & a 3GB RAM variant too.

      • Marc Perrusquia

I agree with you, but it doesn’t look like the 3gb version well be available in the U.S.

        • Troy Stevens Jr

It will juat gonna have to order it from another country thanx to the internet everything is available anywhere theres a internet connection and a mail service

      • Siva

I didn’t know about the fingerprint scanner in 5x. Maybe that’s what you get for 50$ more.

      • Tajwar

Snapdragon 615 a better SoC ??? Are you out of your mind?

        • Saad Naeem

          It’s better than MTK 6753

          • Tajwar

I’d take the mtk 6753 any day because the sd615 is a total piece of garbage, how do I know? I’m using a Coolpad F2 and with 615 and Cyanogenmod and it’s awful I have the cpu underclocked to keep it from catching fire.

A Helio x10 would have been a better choice imo

          • Saad Naeem

I think over-heating also depends upon the implementation done by the OEM.
For example SD 615 didn’t over-heat in Alcatel Idol 3 (5.5), Motorola Moto X Play, Samsung Galaxy A7, Asus Zenfone Selfie, Asus Zenfone Selfie & in various Huawei phones etc.
Whereas it did over-heat in Xiaomi Mi4i , Yu Yureka, Xolo Black etc
SD 810 didn’t over-heat in OnePlus 2, Letv One Pro, Letv One Max, and many other.
Whereas it did over-heat in HTC One M9, LG G Flex2, Sony Xperia Z3+ etc
And SD 801 didn’t over-heat in any device except LG G3.

I’ll stick with my 2.5 year old G2 with slightly better specs, at least until Sprint sells the V10…

Idk this seems like a decent little mid range android device. And for only $199.99 im gonna pick one up just so I can root it and see what its really capable of after I build a Custom Rom with my self made speed tweaks. Your welcome to check out my work on the XDA Developers and SDX Developers (Haxsung Inc) under the name tr0yz1488. Ive made many operating systems for Galaxy S3 devices up to the galaxy S5, Roms for the HTC M8, Samsung Moment, The G1, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab and many other older devices. This pgones seems to have good enuff hardware that with the bright tweaks it might be juat as good maybe better than a Galaxy S3 or S4 which sell at cheapest Ive seen new for a Galaxy S3 to buy outright for prepaid is $299.99 for the S3 and $399.99 for a S4. So $199.99 for a device qith better hardware in some cases, a newer device thats factory unlocked out of box. I cant wait to overclock this beast and see what it can do and since they are so cheap if I brick onw it wont be like if I brick a Galaxy S6 where Id have to pay another $600plus for another device. Main reason I stopped developing operating systems for Galaxy S devices since I dont sell my work and release myCustom Android OS’s, apps, and inti. scripts on those website for free. Gotta love AOSP Android Open Source Project, just FYI incase u didnt know what Android AOSP stood for

Quick question. Would flashing a different rom, say Marshmallow on this take away the extra features of the fingerprint scanner like swiping down for the notifications?

  • raffr

$200 is a heck of a deal for that hardware. more bad news for HTC. how do they compete with these types of prices?

  • Burak

I ordered blu life one x 2016 instead of this. I accept that honor 5x has fingerprint and a metal body but blu comes with a case and a screen protector plus it will get marshmallow, supports all major carriers in the States, UI is close to stock android. These are my thoughts guys.

Did you look at the BLU Vivo 5?
