What’s the first name that comes to mind when hearing about puzzle video games? Minesweeper, Tetris, Zuma? And what do all those have in common, besides addictive gameplay? That’s right, redundancy, basic graphics and ease of play.
Now don’t understand I’m denying their merits, because it’s true – they can still be loads of fun despite being so simplistic. But if you need a puzzle video game with more substance and a much more challenging “storyline”, Hamilton’s Great Adventure THD is the way to go.
This popular PC and console title has just dropped by Google Play and TegraZone, being up for grabs right now for $3.99. The good news – it’s much more than a basic puzzle game, featuring stunning visuals and 22 mind-boggling difficult puzzles. The bad news – it’s only available for quad-core Tegra 3 devices with Android 3.1 and up.
Even worse, it’s going to take up about 1 GB of storage, so you should think long and hard before getting it for, say, the 8 GB Nexus 7. On the flip side, we can’t stress just how advanced the 3D visuals are for a puzzler, but also the adrenaline that makes Hamilton’s Great Adventure an awesome action game.
There are only two playable characters, the adventurer Hamilton and his loyal bird Sasha, but the traps, spring boards and hidden treasure locations, as well as the variety of enemies (from hungry Piranhas to cunning Agents and unstoppable Golems) will spice up your ventures through the jungle of Amazonas or the windy mountain sides of Himalaya.
At the end of the 20 “normal” levels, there will be two boss levels that will put your patience through the ultimate test. If you do manage to go through all these adventures, survive and still want more, there’s also an expansion package available for an additional $3.99 and featuring another 22 unique puzzles. Pretty awesome, eh?
