This is great news for Android lovers, and for mobile game enthusiasts alike. It might be hard to believe – but Grand Theft Auto III is over 10 years this month. Either way, the game itself is likely to experience a huge resurgence in interest once it gets onto Android.

Plus, it’ll be working on the following devices to start:

  • Droid X2
  • LG Optimus 2X
  • Motorola Atrix
  • Samsung Galaxy S2
  • Acer Iconia
  • Asus Eee Pad
  • Motorola Xoom
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Really exciting stuff folks – but we find it strange that the Sony Xperia Play isn’t on the list – but this could change. Either way, if they do it right, and have multiplayer support – it could make for some epic car stealing and gang-busting on the move.

Any other titles you think should be ported to the Android platform?

I would love to see Red Dead Redemption on the mobile platform too if this is able to go on it.

I’m guessing the Xperia Play was left out because it’s not a dual-core device
