We still can’t say with 100% certainty that the long-rumored ‘cheap’ iPhone really exists, but that’s not stopping GooPhone from making a clone of it!
GooPhone is known for pretty much one thing, making cheap knock-off devices. With that in mind, we can’t say we are surprised to hear about about the GooPhone i5c. Heck, back in March GooPhone even jumped the gun and released the GooPhone i5S, a clone of the still unreleased iPhone 5S.
You might be wondering who would actually buy one of these things. The answer is probably either folks that really don’t know the difference between a knock-off and the real thing or casual Android users.
So what kind of specs will the GooPhone i5C have to offer? Reportedly, the handset will feature a 4-inch display with a 960 x 540 resolution and will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core MTK6572 processor.
Other specs include 1GB RAM, an 8MP rear cam, 2MP front cam, a 2,000 mAh battery, 4GB storage, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, quad-band GSM, 3G connectivity and Android 4.2.
The GooPhone is expected to arrive for just $99, shortly after the iPhone 5C is made official.
You might be wondering who would actually buy one of these things. The answer is probably either folks that really don’t know the difference between a knock-off and the real thing or casual Android users. In other words, most Android fans will probably want to avoid this one like the plague.
Still, if you have $99 to blow, we suppose it could be a fun way to troll your iPhone-packing friends.

This is better than the Goophone i5S. Doesn’t make much sense.
hi im 2nd comment
Not sure that this is 100% true..I’m talking about the specs, there’s something that doesn’t make sense at all. Like the MTK6572…
How are these copy companies not being destroyed by lawsuits from the behemoths they are copying?
Made in china
There are car companies in China making fake BMW mini coopers X5 SUVs Hyundai Matiz and lots of other cars . They were hunted by BMW and nothing happened to them because the government in China found that there were no similarities between those cars. As simple as that.. You can imagine what the case is going to be for much cheaper smart phones.
So you are saying that if Apple tried to stop them, the Chinese govt would intervene and basically prevent Apple from doing so?
Before I knew the goo phone existed, I met a gal in Thailand who had a fake iphone. It was not running Android, but had iOS-looking icons. I could not tell the difference, but she assured me it was fake and let me know that the price that she paid for it, proved it was fake.
It is not like the government does not intervene for nothing.. Bribery is indescribably popular there and that is why those rip offs are not banned. I also know a guy from China who bought a fake Iphone, and he knew it was fake. It looked exactly as the iOS, but the price however was not extremely cheaper..
Correct. the whole Chinese economy is based on counterfeit and fake copies of famous brands.. That in addition to their communist system.. Why would they ruin that.
By the way if you guys want to see the Top Gear episode in which they spoke about this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0bNf-jcVU0
You coudn’t be anymore wrong, yes there is alot of copying going on in China, but from there to say that their economy is based on that is wrong, they are innovating and moving forward in several areas.
I never said they’re not innovating, But trust me on this.. I’ve been to china couple of times and I’ve seen how things work there. the word genuine doesn’t stand for anything in China. This wasn’t 100% bad. in fact by copying other brands Chinese companies developed in a very short period of time giving them the chance to keep up with current famous brands . I can already see where will these companies are gonna be in few years.
Wow, thanks for that video. Fascinating, but troubling…
Android 4.2 pre-installed ?
this phone is better than iphone 5s! :D
I wouldn’t buy the real iPhone5C.. Why would i go fo this thing lol
Personally, I’m amused by this. If it were availible in the US for less than $50 with no contract, I might buy it just for the sheer entertainment factor of playing with Crapple Fans.
The economic revolutions of China : If you can buy cheaper why’d bother? Seems great phone for daily use basis.
