Earlier today, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google is planning on joining the hardware business. According to WSJ, Google has plans of developing a home entertainment system which would stream wireless music throughout the home; as well as on web-connected devices and speakers manufactured by Google. The home entertainment system is believed to be controlled through an Android smartphone or tablet—which makes it sound like a direct competition to the Sonos.

So is this the mystery device which Google recently requested a patent for at the FCC? With further developments on the topic, we think everything is getting clearer and clearer!

How about you, do you think this is the mystery device?
