Today’s Google Play surprise: Free Live Stones

by: Kristofer WoukDecember 18, 2012

Yesterday we told you that Google Play would be counting down to 2013 a little differently than it counted down to 2012. Today that trend continues and celebrates a legendary musician’s birthday in the process.

Whether you’re excited about today’s surprise boils down to one factor: whether or not you like the Rolling Stones. See, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards turns 69 today and Google is celebrating two birds with one video.

“Beast of Burden,” a live video from the final show of the Rolling Stones’ 1982 tour is likely a great find for fans of the band, especially since this version includes an interview with Keith Richards himself, but for everyone else, well, let’s just say it’s no $35 hotel credit.

Commenters on our story from yesterday are less than excited about Google Play’s 2013 countdown, but hopefully the deals will get better as the days roll by. After all, we are only on day two. If you are excited about the video, check out the link below in the sources section.

What do you think? Are you excited about today’s surprise, or would you prefer an app discount?

  • Hopefully the deals get better. So far these have been a big yawn.

Surprise! These guys are still alive!
(Get it while they’re still that way)

I still have to pay… Is it just a discount?

Google introduced Wishlist a while back within the Play Store. It’ll be awesome if Google provides discount (or free) on those apps, so everyone will get what they wished for!
