Update: a “reliable source” told Geek.com that no hardware will be shown at the event. This could mean Google will focus solely on the Play Store for this one.
As you read this post, Google is sending out email invitations for a special event scheduled on October 24. While there’s no mention of Android or Nexus in the invitation, we can’t help wonder: will we see the much anticipated Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat?
Details are scarce for now, but it seems that the “night out” event will be centered on the Play Store. Google is preparing to unveil some new developments related to its media offerings, namely music, movies, and games. A performance from indie band Capital Cities is also on schedule.
The event is planned for next Thursday, October 24, 2013, starting at 7PM. Google’s Night Out will take place in New York, and is likely that it will be livestreamed on YouTube, as it happened with most of Google’s big events in the past years.
Now for the big question: is this the Nexus/KitKat event we’ve all been waiting for, or is Google just teasing? The hype levels are already off the chart, but Google may be eager to drum up the excitement for its new offerings just a bit more.
Most credible rumors that we’ve heard so far stated that Google will make Android 4.4, the new Nexus 5, and the Nexus 10 public towards the end of October, possibly on October 31.
It’s safe to say that the Nexus 5 is ready for primetime. The device leaked on Google’s own Play Store and its specifications are all but confirmed at this point, though a multitude of problems could hold its release back.
We are waiting for more details on this, so stay tuned.
google watch announcement please.
If this event doesn’t announce 4.4 and the Nexus 5, people are going to lose it. LOL

no hardware. http://www.geek.com/android/nexus-5-time-google-event-on-1024-points-to-nexus-and-play-news-1574361/
If they were going to present Android 4.4 KitKat and Nexus 5 on this event, the invitation would say so. I strongly believe this is only about the Google Play Store. I might be wrong, but if I am, then the PR people should all think about how they are interacting with the public. This does not have neither KitKat nor Nexus 5 written on it.
its finally happening NEXUS > 5
Everybody Dance Now!
no hardware, no care :/
the invitation would probably have the ‘have a break, have a kitkat’ thing on it. if people go mental over no nexus 5 and android 4.4 announcement, that’s their fault
Google Play Store for all countries plox :)
I am going to get blue balls from all this gdamn teasing!

Android 4.4 ftw !!!
I’m disappointed by the lack of Nexus 10 leaks. After the disappointment with the lag with the Samsung Note 10.1 I was looking forward to a N10 announcement to see if it would have similar specs to the 2014 Note 10.1 without that Touchwiz software which seems to bog it down .
iPad 5 will be announced tomorrow. Kinda shocked that at least a little news hasn’t come to light about what could be expected on the N10 refresh to hold buyers who may be on the fence between buying the iPad 5 and the N10.
If the N10 isn’t at least announced on the 24th I’ll probably buy the iPad 5. If the iPad 5 is announced but not available for purchase for a while I’ll hold off to see what the N10 refresh brings.
I would find it hard to believe they won’t announce the 5 at this event. Why have 2 seperate events in the same month or so.
