Google today announced an update for its Maps for Android app, which adds local search with its Places feature. Google Maps for Mobile 4.4 provides an easier way to find places nearby with a dedicated Places icon that lets users quickly look up nearby restaurants, bars, hotels, ATMs, and gas stations – among other things.
Version 4.4 is available now in the Android Market and works on devices running Android OS 1.6 and newer.
