Andy Stadler

Andy Stadler over at the Google Mobile blog has put up a post that details how search works on the Android platform and on the T-Mobile G1 in particular. One of the most obvious tweaks for Android is the addition of search phrase suggestions to search boxes. Just like with the desktop version of Google, as you start typing a search query, a list of common and/or related search phrases appear in a pop-up box that can be easily selected with a quick press.

A simpler kind of the same pop-up list functionality will see previous search queries being offered up in apps like YouTube and Gmail.

Andy then goes on to explain how Android tries to make search easier for developers by letting them use other search sources for searching, such as a music application searching on YouTube.
