Disney on Google Play

Things are certainly looking up for fans of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies. Google and Disney have teamed up to introduce a service called Disney Movies Anywhere, providing users with a convenient way to access their favorite Disney/Marvel/Pixar films from their Android devices. Google’s Head of Play Movies partnerships Jonathan Zepp stated that the service aims to “make it easy for movie fans to enjoy all of their past and future digital purchases across all of their devices”.

The service was already introduced to Apple back in February, and with Android now in the mix, access to Disney’s 450 film catalog can now be accomplished from pretty much any tablet, smartphone, or computer. Users simply need to download the Disney Movies Anywhere app (which you can grab here) and login with their Gmail account. From there, and regardless of which platform you purchased from (Google Play, IOS, or directly from Disney Movies anywhere), the content will then be available across all 3 platforms.

The entertainment industry is shifting it’s strategy, and partnerships like this are a reflection of that. With the living room winning as the 2014 preferred place to watch movies from literally every age range and gender, deals like this certainly make sense for movie moguls like Disney. Disney also stated that they would announce another partnership soon, and is currently offering the “Wreck it Ralph” film for free (limited time only) to anyone that connects one of their partner accounts.
