You can now call upon Google's new chatbot, Lucky, to send GIFs to your friends in Allo.

While they might not be what everyone has been asking for, Google has been working hard to bring a number of fun new features to its smart messaging app, Allo. We’ve seen new Star Wars and Stranger Things-themed sticker packs, Chrome Custom Tabs support, and much more. If you’ve been waiting for SMS support, a web client, or any other useful feature, we’re sorry to say those still aren’t here. What is present in this new update, though, is a new way to send GIFs to your friends.

Previously, Google Assistant was the only chatbot baked into Allo, but now there’s one more – Lucky. In what’s likely a nod to the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button on Google.com, calling upon Lucky in any of your chats will provide you with the GIF of your choosing. Say, for instance, you’d like to send a puppy GIF to your friend. Just open your chat, type @lucky, then type the word “puppy”. Lucky will then post a puppy or puppy-related GIF to your chat.

Google Allo: Everything you need to know
Features
A few things to note, though. You can’t call upon the all-knowing Lucky in a chat with Google Assistant (so you’ll have to actually find someone else using Allo to test this feature out), and Lucky seems to be a tad slow at the moment. Sometimes the GIFs freeze up or take a few seconds to start playing.

It appears only some users have the ability to use Lucky at the moment, while some users still don’t. If you’d like to give Lucky a shot, make sure you grab the latest version of Allo via the Google Play Store link below.
